This unique and soulful voice has no bounds. Ty McKinnie, is an American singer-songwriter and self-taught guitarist from Atlanta, Georgia. The Atlanta native has been singing since the age of 6 years old, and since then, music has been the center of his life. Ty started writing music and uploading songs to SoundCloud and covers on YouTube. Inspired to turn his passion into action, in 2016, Ty moved to New York City to pursue his singing career and enrolled in New York University (NYU)’s Music Business program.

Moving to New York wasn’t easy. As adversities struck, writing and music became more therapeutic and an escape for the artist. In May 2017, Ty released his debut EP, “The Silhouette.” The EP includes hits like “Welcome to Adulthood,” a raw, upbeat song about the struggles of being an adult and the harsh realities of life, and “Boys Like Me,” an honest unraveling about growing up in a household where being a part of the LGBT community is looked down on.

In 2019, Ty released his sophomore EP titled "Soul Searching. The 5-song project is a sonic departure from his Pop/Folk sound in favor of a soulful groove that paints the artist in a mature light. This new sound is perfectly showcased in the EP's lead single "Mutual," a jazzy tune dictating the struggles of the millennial dating scene.

When he wasn't in class, Ty continued to work on his live chops by performing in iconic venues around New York City (Rockwood Music Hall, The Cutting Room). He has since graduated from NYU and is now focused on creating new music
